Welcome To Emily's Blog!

Welcome to my blog! I am Emily and I am making this blog for Miss Lesher's 7th grade Language Arts class at the Wissahickon Middle School. This site will be used to compare 2 books. The books being compared are: The Giver and Gathering Blue, both wonderful books by Lois Lowry that our class had to read. This site will help you to better understand the two books and to discuss Lois Lowry's writing style in the two books. Hopefully it will be helpful and get you through the books!

The Giver or Gathering Blue... Which One Won?

Which book did you like better...The Giver or Gathering Blue? I liked The Giver better because it had more action and more meaning. Gathering Blue was boring and confusing. Nothing exciting happened in it at all. What did you think about the two books? Which one did you like better? Why?

Emily--

I agree with your opinion. The Giver did have a lot of meaning to it, making it more interesting to read. I liked the suspense as well. From your point of view of Gathering Blue, it seems that it is very boring. Should I read it anyway?

Hi, Merely returned here to advise you about Mobile Monopoly. This is a superb technique and WILL make you money, especially seeing as you own a website. Take a quick look at their video, the system is about using Mobile Advertising which is brand new and an unexposed marketplace where you can make thousands by doing hardly any work. I assure you that after you watch their short video it will change you and it will start making you think. http://mobile-mastermind.com

Personally, I enjoyed reading the Giver, a lot more than reading Gathering Blue. The Giver was very exciting from the start. It mentioned the "ceremony of twelve" from the start of the book, which interested me, and made me continue reading. Once Jonas got the job as the "receiver of memory" I was intrigued by all the unknown secrets. Lastly when Jonas went through a harsh journey to elsewhere, with Gabriel, it made me feel as though I was part of the journey! In Gathering Blue, Katrina died right from the start. Then chapters and chapters went on, deciding what Kira would do. When Kira was threatened by Vandara, it got exciting. Kira went to a nerve racking trial, and fought for her life, with the help of Jameson. Jameson allowed her to stay, only for her special threading talents. Kira was required to work on the singers robe. Kira meet Thomas, and Jo along the way, but nothing really special happened. Finally at the end of the book, a life changing moment happened. Kiras father who was said to be taken by beasts, returned to Kira! Kiras wonderful friend Matt brought him back from a far away place. Throughout the book of Gathering Blue, little exciting things happened, but not many like The Giver. Therefore, I thought the Giver was a much more exciting book, than Gathering Blue.

Joans washed the Old in bathtubs and he had a dream about giving Fiona a bath. In Gathering Blue Kira was excited to have running water and be able to clean herself...
